It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that I am posting this.
For the past few years, I have had the pleasure of discussing, complaining about, and ultimately driving one of the best machines I have ever had the pleasure to command.
At 12:15 ET, I am no longer the commander of the Freight Train. She was sold to a good familiy for a great deal. The new owner is an enthusiast from florida, using the touring as his daily driver.
So long, and farewell.... for now.

Are you over on shoptalkforums.com with the VW? I used to be. I know everyone over at roadfly will miss you, too. Sorry to see you go, hopefully we can welcome you back again sometime with a new bmw :)

Stick around. Just because you sold the Freight Train doesn't mean you are kicked out of the Fraternity.

I need to get something a little more ... pedestrian.
the requirements for the wife's car are as follows
NEW!
UNDER 25k including TAXES, before ANY money comes out of my pocket for a down payment
MANUAL, Leather, sunroof
2 cars are in the running
Accord Ex
Mazda 6 wagon
while the 6 wagon is a fun car, plenty of power to get us around... the back seat is a little smaller, and can not accomodate a child seat BEHIND a driver / passenger , and have the front seat passenger comfortable
the Accord meets this.
Wife was given until today to make up her mind between the cars, I am indifferent (the accord trim is MUCH nicer than the Mazda) between these cars...
Looks like I will be getting the accord this weekend
500 under invoice and 1.9% ... roughly 23k with taxes... sounds like that is what our family needs for the next few years
wife promises that I will pilot another like the Freigh Train... Maybe a 02/03 will become available for sale in 2-3 years down the road
I will stop in from time to time... thank you all for your kind words and support

Or if he's looking for a wagon... Volvo V70RRemind me again how a new V70R with a base price of $38,750 is remotely close to his requirement of $25,000 including taxes? :cool

I'm going to vote for the Mazda, even if she has made up her mind. The Mazda chassis has the most "European" feel of the Japanese marques. A friend of mine has the Mazda 6 sedan with the sport package and it's a nice looking car. It looks even better in a wagon.
Sorry to see the 540 go. I've always been a fan of high performance wagons, even though I've never owned one.

Agreed, she was all ready to get the Mazda 6 sport wagon... pep and handling was acceptable... till she tried to load the car seat... deal breaker

540 wagon is the perfect family car :dunno
My wife would love to drive a Touring...
I can see the Accord as being more "friendly" though.
Good luck w/ the Honda.

As he knows, and anyone with more than one kid, 5 series until the e60 lacked inr ear room, disgustingly. My e23 is nearly the same lenth as an e34/39, yet has tons mroe room
They suck for babyseats..suck, suck bad
