i have and e28 535i, i would like to lower it with sport suspension, should i go with eibachs and bilsteins (more expensive) or adjustable coilovers from this website? (http://www.bimmerworld.com/html/coilover-conversion-spring-kits.htm) the coilovers are the cheaper of the two and i've heard good things about coilover kits... just wondering everyone's opinions...

bimmerworld is selling ground control coil overs. so you still need new shocks to go with the kit. so it'll be $400 plus additional money for whatever shock you chose.

if you go the lowering spring route, my suggestion would be eibach and koni. works well for the e34, probably would work well for the e28 too.

btw, send a pm to e28jay. his car is lowered really nicely, but i forgot what combo he is using.

My car is using eibach sport springs and bilstein HD shocks. A stiff ride that is still comfortable on the highway(very bumpy in the city though). I wouldn't choose anything else.

That may be the way to go... just wanna research before i make any major decisions about suspension... don't want to change my mind after i've installed some you know. :D

their coilovers are height adjustable, and you can choose a spring-rate (how stiff) that suits your needs (they'll help you choose the correct spring-rate). with it, you can use any shock of your choice, however, seems like most people i know go with koni's when running ground controls. i would contact them directly, they're pretty good at answering whatever questions you may have. http://www.ground-control.com

Eibach has been known for a more stiff ride...be careful with this....research the spring rate to see what kind of ride you want then decide if u want coilovers or not...good luck

Eibach springs are pretty good, but have been known to sag in the rear after a year or so (specifically for E28s like yours). H&R are probably a better bet and are slightly less harsh according to most.

As for shocks, I would definitely go with Bilstein Sports rather than HDs. HDs will be underdamped with either of the sport springs. On the rear, even Bilstein sports are known to be too soft for sport springs and you may want to send them to Bilstein to have them revalved ($65 each). Front Bilstein sports are very nice and firm yet controlled.

Koni fronts are not really very firm, even on the stiffest setting. If comfort is a concern, go for the Koni's, if performance, you will get better dampening with the Bilsteins.
E28 rear Koni's are NLA unfortunately, so you are kind of stuck with the Bilsteins unless you can find some NOS leftover Koni's somewhere.
Ideal setup is Koni yellows rear and Bilstein Sports front.

Ground control rocks. If I had a little more coin, I would go for their stuff in a heartbeat. Give them a call, they are very cool and knowledgeable.

h&r's are less harsh? i could feel every groove in the road with them.

sounds like i'd prefer to go with ground control, quite spendy though. oh well, it'd be worth the improved control and stance... :evil2

This is what Ive heard....I drove both back to back and it seemed the H&R's may have been a bit softer. The differences are slight....
