Changes to '05 Cooper S engine

What was changed on the '05 Cooper S engine to bump it from 162hp to 168hp? Does it affect driveability and gas mileage at all?

The 05 is rated 2 mpg less on the hwy than the earlier coopers. Same rating for city.
