Okay, I see the Sachs/Boge Shocks on shox.com
(http://www.shox.com/appguide/shoxshop/productsdisplay.php?itemID=1720&flag=c&makeID=11&AutoMakerName=BMW&modelID=457&year=1992)
So far I've heard that the Sachs kit is the way to go for my 1992 525i, but what springs are included in it? Is there any place that sells the full kit? I can't find it.
Anyway, I'm looking at significantly increased handling, preferrably without losing too much comfort in the ride, but definitely lowering the stance. What other setups might I look at?
Another question. Body roll - it's my biggest petpeeve. Will a stiffer suspension cure this problem? How much would sways improve on that? Any other cheaper fixes? Thanks for your input.

In my experience the sway bars are NECESSARY to cut back body roll. Stiffer shocks / springs will help some, but the sways are a MUST HAVE.

Right now I have a stock suspension that's kinda shot (the shocks are at least). Would you recommend sways first?

Bump. Still looking for more suggestions on suspension for the e34, along with places to find the sachs kit?

From what I read, Hype is right, swaybars are a very important part. There are a lot of swaybar options for the E34, so you might do some reading before you decide which way you want to go. (check at bimmer.info, and bmwdatabase.com)
I just picked up a set of Euro M5T swaybars, 25mm front and 19mm rear. Haven't had time to buy links and install them yet, probably will be spring before I get around to that. Once I do, count on an in-depth review of them on an otherwise-stock suspension.

get the sachs kit from bma
that shox.com is crap
the kit comes with springs and shocks around 600 i think
then get some larger wheels. some of that body roll is
probably tire roll. then if u're still not happy get some
sways...

I'm either stupid, incompetent, or both. I can't for the life of me find the sachs kit on BMA. Someone link me please? Sorry bout that.

It's not you, they don't have it listed on the web. If you call they will hook you up, it's around $650 now IIRC. Comes with Bilstein shocks and custom Eibach springs.

Awesome thanks. So is the sachs kit the way to go then?

i would say koni yellows are the best shocks/struts. i have the eibach pro-kit and it is alright... i want the car a little lower so I am switching to coilovers.
swaybars are great. i got the RD sways and love them. 3 way adjustable in the front 2 way in the rear.

A lot of people recommend the Sachs kit if you want to preserve as much of the stock ride comfort as possible while increasing performace and lowering the car a little.
I have no experience either way...if the M-tech springs weren't so expensive, I'd probably go with those instead...but as it is, I'm likely to go with the Sachs kit eventually.
Oh, and I had a brain fart earlier, it's Boge shocks with the Sachs kit, not Bilstien.

Oh good, I'm not going insane. Thanks for the input.
What about all you other lowered e34's - what's your setup, and what do/don't you like about it?

Id go for shocks and springs first, then sways last. They do reduce body roll a lot, but with stock shocks, etc, wouldnt really be the ticket.
H&R makes some nice springs for E34. Konis are definitely the choicest shocks and struts but are fairly pricey. I have heard repeated good stuff about the Sachs kit as well.
Racing Dynamics also makes a spring that lowers the E34 quite a bit (maybe more than the H&R) and are still quite cushy. Great for cruising, not so good for hammering.
For sways, Racing Dynamics is definitely the way to go.

Where's the cheapest place to get the RD sways?

They seem to be right around $400 or a little less at every vendor. I think Turner Motorsports has about the best price on them that I have found.

Hmm. You say $400 or less, then say turner has the best price at $400. Where's the less?

You'd have to look around. That's to the best of my memory, but Ive been out of E34s for a while. Who knows what has happened to the prices?

What kind of shocks / springs does the sachs kit come with? What kind of drop can you expect from them?

i believe they are just sachs...
but they are matched springs/shocks and i can personally vouch for some friends that have the kit. it rides just like stock, just handles a LOT better.
BMA is definitely the way to go too.

in regards to drop,
it looks like they have similar number to H&R springs. i'm running H&Rs and bilsteins and my car is lowered than a friends w/the sachs kit...but that is solely because my car is a bit raked. if it wasn't so, i'm confident that it would sit at the same height.
