Well I finally got it done. I changed out my fuel filter after chaning my oil. I got a Mann oil filter with Mobil 1 10w30 for winter. During the summer, I'll change to 15w50. I also got a Mahle fuel filter. I think it's getting me a little better gas mileage. Does a new filter improve mileage at all?

Regular maintanence is good for both emissions and fuel economy.
So good job on doing the work yourself.

Mine was no piece of cake to get out. It's right next to the tranny just above the left engine mount. I had to do it blind because I couldn't see the upper hose clamp because it's tucked up in there pretty good :mad It went pretty smoothly, though, and I think I might cut it open to see what it looks like.

changing the oil out can yield slightly better mileage - engine components are better lubricated and the car runs more efficiently.

The fuel filter is a bitch. Mine was under the driver side and it was held in with a hinged clamp. The problem was there was a hard line in the way of the hinge!! ala the filter would not just drop out. I had to slide it out towards the front of the car.

I feel your pain... :mad
beatnik, I'll take some pics. I'm not sure when it was last replaced. It's a Bosch, so it's either the original one, or an OEM style one. How's Mahle? Did I get a good brand, or should I have stuck with Bosch?
Is a Mann oil filter OEM? I've often wondered this...

I tried to impress my music professor with my car today and I opened the hood and there was no oil filler cap! :eyecrazy After I changed the oil last night, I forgot to replace the cap, and it was sitting on the little vents under my wipers. :( That's a little embarrassing. I'm surprised the car got me to school fine without an oil filler cap. I'm even more surprised my engine wasn't coated in oil once I got to school.

No biggie.. add some oil just to be safe.. and dont ever do that again!! :stickoutt
Mann is an OE filter; Mahle is good, I would of rather went with Bosch but only cus Im a sucker for brand names.
