Does anyone have schematics for the Service Indicator board located in the instrument cluster?
After changing my oil, and resetting the service indicator light and the oil change light, the yellow light is stuck on. Even with the key removed from the ignition it still stays lit. I even removed the battery terminals, had them disconnected for a half hour and it came back on when I reconnected it.
After talking with a friend of mine who is a mechanic at the local BMW Dealer, he said that that my board has gone south.
An independent repair shop said they could "try" to fix it for $120.00 w/ no guarantees. Or they could replace it for $200.00. They also said that there's a possibility that it could be the mother board ($700.00!) Yikes!!
So, I would like to know if anyone has schematics and knows what the heck to do besides dishin out a few hundered to several hundred.
I'm a pureist and would like to do more than just remove the light bulb. I rely heavily one the oil change indicator lights. My 535 is an '88 with over 236,000 miles and runs great.
Thanks in adavance.
