I just drove the 05 "S".

Wow nice engine, nice exhaust. Much smoother feeling than the 02 with the "Dodge" engine. The tone of the new Renault based engine was great.

Cluth was noticably more positive, shifter more fluid. The sunroof didn't ratter, the dash didn't rattle...

Hopefully the guys at Mini make it attractive for the Fiance and myself to dump the 02 Cooper in favour of an S.

Oh those seats.....
:D

Our dash no longer rattles. They took the windshield out to fix the rattle.
That was after they just stuffed some foam to quite the vibration.
That didn't last. Rattle got louder.

The sunroof no longer rattles. That entire mechanism was replaced.
Headlight module just replaced.

The new version software has a yoyo effect on idle. :(

I just love this car. At least my wife loves it and that is really all that counts.
I'm waiting for a 230 for me.

No Shit! I didn't know that. I can tell you that our '05 "S" Cab is noticelably quicker than our '02 "S" and I haven't even put the air intake on the '05 yet.

Does anybody have experience with the "pulleys" on an '05 "S" yet? I'll also throw a new thread out there.

we have a 19% reduction pulley on our project '05 here. It pulls noticeably more than the earlier coopers.

It sure felt quicker....

I love these little cars, almost as much as my Z3, but not quite.

I would say the 19% isn't good for any track action seeing that your over driving the s/c but the 15% is the best all around.

The '05 engines are still the Tri tec's (aka Dodge) Renaults are due in the '07 model year. MINI has done some tweaking since the 02's and added a bit more power, but the engines are still the same.

mini2.com and motoringfile.com are two good places to poke around and get info. mini2 is a very european populated community but seems to have tons of users and general information if you sift through it.

i never really knew what it was like to drive a car that was "on rails" until my girl let me drive her 05 MCS. jesus this car is perfect (imo). handling... power... lighting... seats... i envy you mini drivers. the exhaust tone is very nice. oOh and i love how the xenon projectors move when you first turn the lights on.
