95 525i engine into 94 325i???

I have a 94 325i with a bad head gasket(oil in coolant). I found a 95 525i engine with 105k miles and was wondering if it will fit into my 325i. I understand they both have the m50 engine but are they exactly the same where it would fit into my 325i? ANy help would be appreciated.

Yes... It will fit. AFAIK the only difference on the 95 is the EWS-II but you don't need to care about it because you'll be keeping your 94 ECU/DME.

Thanks for the quick reply. One more quick question. The 525i engine is off the car. IS there anything i can do to determine tha condition of the engine. I was thing of doing a compression check it that possible with the engine off the cat? TIA

do compression and leakdown tests. can be done out of the car.
