i have a 92 325i and i just bought a new viper alarm. i was wondering if its possible to get one of my aux buttons to unlock the trunk? ive read thru the forums where some ppl had that setup for their e36. but my car doesnt even have a release from inside the cockpit. the only way i can open my trunk is by using my key in the trunklid's keyhole. any clues?

are you trying to get the alarm to pop your trunk or unlock it? it unlocks as soon as the doors are unlocked, and if it doesnt then there is something wrong with your locking/unlocking mechanism in there

as above, your boot shoud unlock with the central locking!
i would say it would be a fair bit of bother to 'pop' the boot(trunk) from your alarm and not very worth while just for the sake of pushing a button IMO.

ok.. right now.. if i lock / unlock my door using the key.. the trunk doesnt do anything... IF i lock / unlock my trunk using the key... then my doors will respond accordingly. i always thought this was right... anyway to fix this?

yea, we call the trucnk boot over, no idea why so don't ask :)
I wouldn't know about saloons in particular but my boot unlocks when i unlock my doors it also unlocks the boot.
My old hatch 'lost' the central locking to the boot after a few years like yours but I never got I fixed so I couldn't tell you to resolve this problem.

There Is 2 Positions That The Key Can Be Taken Out Of The Trunk Lock. Position 1 Makes It So You Have To Unlock The Trunk With The Key Everytime That You Want To Open It. Postion 2 Will Lock And Unlock With Your Doors (requiring No Key Int The Trunk) Just Push The Button. Not Sure If This Will Help Get You In The Right Direction.

but like he said, is there any actual way to setup the trunk to pop open with the auxilary button?

i think in order to get the trunk to pop open.. u need to install some aftermarket thing.. the stock system defintely wont do it no matter how u wire it up from what i read. ive seen others ask for this. now im just wondering how to get my door locks to lock and unlock my trunk. my trunk can lock and unlock my doors.any ideas? microswitch? actuators? wiring? where should i start?
