2002 530I Offset

I'm looking for advise about a winter tire and rim package. I have been told that I need a 225/55/16 tire. ( I run 17" in the summer". I have been told to use a 20mm offset. I found some great rims that meet all specs except that the offset is 15mm, not 20mm. What difference is it going to make? Am I safe? Again, it is the sport suspension.

5mm is approximately 3/16"; You'll have no problem. You don't say the width of your new wheels, I guess 7"? Anyway, if you haven't looked at what offset really means then go to tirerack.com.
You could read and look at their graphics and understand 10 times than I could try to write it out.

You'll be fine with the 15mm offset.
