My '00 540i 6spd/Sport had a issue 2 days ago, ..The speedometer doesn't work now and the gas tank indicator is sorta manual (it flucuates when i turn or go down a hill). And the DSC light is always on now too! Someone said it is a 02 sensor. Does this sound right? How much for this sensor and where can I purchase one? Thanks so for any info? :help

I dont quite know what your problem is, but if you need any parts I would check out BMA. bmaautoparts.com They are quality.

I am pretty sure an O2 sensor would not cause either one of these problems. Did they all occur at the same time? What a 02 sensor controls is the amount of oxygen into the engine therefore increasing performance and mileage. If it was a sensor that went bad I would think that the speedometer sensor would be the first one to check. I've heard of one other case like this and the problem was the actual cluster. My friend replaced it and it started working fine. I'm not sure what it was that he tested to know it was the cluster but he was right. I would think those two roads would equal a good start of things to check.

Hmm, I haven't made this repair myself, but it sounds like it might be the bowden cable that goes to the dsc in the throttle body portion of the intake. These cables are a known weak point.

Just wanted to let you guys know what the problem turned out to be...
The DSC Module had to be replaced and a wheel sensor at that too. Cost me $900.00..Ouch!
Anyway, I'm putting feelers out because I think I'm going to get a used M5 or new M3...
Check the for sale section for pics..
