Any Suggestions on the Best Way to Clean Up Steel Wheels?

I just purchased a set of snow tires on steel wheels. The tires are in great shape :) but the wheels have some rust spots on them :(

I was thinking of just sanding them down and spray painting them with a rust resistant paint, but I'm open to other approaches. I have no plans to do anything until I take them off in the spring. Any thoughts?

If they are not too bad, sand them or wire brush. If they are real bad, you may want to media blast them.

I agree just sand them and paint them and you should be good to go.
