View Full Version : 2000 vs. 2001 E39 Body Changes?

Is there anything else I am missing for the E39 (540i) as far as body changes in 2001?

-front bumper
-headlights
-body colored molding/trim

anything else different? There just seems like such a big difference between the two.

Foglights and wider grill.

Thats about it exterior wise.

So the entire hood lines are wider then too to match the grill?, or just the kidneys themselves?

Just the kidney. It protrudes out of the hood, thats how it gets wider whereas the older ones are flushed with the hood. Many older E39 owners upgrade to the wider kidneys.
