What is the point/what are the advantages of....

Having winter tires vs. having a set of winter tires placed on winter rims? Aside from the obvious advantage of not subjecting your summer rims to harsh winters, is there any cost/labor difference in changing out tires only vs. changing the tires and rims?

You can swap the wheels yourself between the winter and the summer sets, but you can't unmount and mount the tires yourself.
