I think that this Dunlop Winter Sport M2 is ready to be trashed since the bead is damaged, but I'm not sure. What do the experts think?

Kind of hard tell exactly what you are showing, but I would say if you can see the inner construction of the tire, it's toast.

I don't believe it to be safe to use that tire. since the bead is damaged. It might not be able to hold any air when mounted on a wheel.

I have been using my factory wheels for both summer and winter tires, changing when appropriate. The last time the winters came off that tire looked like that. I guess it was damaged by being worked too much or too hard? Pretty boring story, actually.

Boring stories are usually the least expensive.

Oh, I know what you mean... The last time I got all my five tires desmounted and mounted back one got two cuts on the sidewall. I guess you just have to leave the tires alone and have multiple wheel sets.

With such stiff and low profile tires bead damage is highly likely.. chances are a bit of lube before dismouting would have avoided it though. It's rare for people to do it though, even myself..
