It must run well, have no rust and be well taken care of.

I got a 1990 325is. Has 113k miles, 5-speed, Brand new paint-job (steel grey repaint) Black interior. Bav auto intake, tri-flo exhaust, strut bar, JimC chip, Lowered on Ireland Engineering stage III race springs, blistein sport shocks, and Ireland engineering adjustable swaybars. Car runs perfect with the oil changed like 500 miles ago, tierods changed, ball joints, O2 sensors, and many more.

car is perfct with the paint looking perfect and car running very strong. I would be out of your $3 k range though...i am looking to get $5800 for it OBO.
