I just replace my distributor and cap. I forgot to put the silicon that came with the replacement. Is this absolutely necessary to use.

Do I have to put a little silicon on all the contact points and in the center of the distributor cap.

No silicone needed in the cap.

Most vendors use a embeaded process to finish the surface during manufacture.

I have seen some use it on the nipple water proofing caps of the wiring.

It keeps them from sticking for later removal.

I have even used silicone on both ends of the wire, the sparkplug and the cap.

Thanks Ron. I was afraid I had to go through the whole process again.
