Just came back from the smog station and basically the car failed. Hearing the stories from other members i went into this doubting that it would pass.

My car is stock bedsides a uuc exhaust and dinan chip.

The weather was about 59 degrees, pouring rain. i drove around the car around for a little bit before i went in to try to heat the cats up. when i got to the shop they even sat the car on the dyno and let the car roll at around 800 rpm's for about another 10min or so.

They did the test and the car passed every section except the 15mph test. Gosh i was kinda upset cause now i had to pay $35 for a car that didnt pass and i still have to come back and spend another $35-45.

Should i wait till the weather clears and its not so cold? What should i do. I need this done by the end of next week.

Your car should pass fine with the Dinan chip.

I think the bottom line is you didn't warm you car up enough. Before I went to smog, I drove home from work dogging it for 40 minutes on the freeway. In the cold & rain, your car simply couldn't warm up enough. Wait till the weekend when the weather clears.

But unfortunately you've tagged your car as a "FAIL" in the DMV's system. It's pure speculation but I think cars that have been "tagged" are statistically more likely to be sent to smogcheck only stations.

Good luck.

Good luck.

Ditto what he said. Mine failed the low-speed test, too. The next day I took it out on the freeway for 30 minutes, pulled up to a different smog shop, left it running until he got it onto the dyno and it passed just fine.

i have an AA chip and uuc exhaust, but i put my stock airbox back in.

i failed the first time too, i thought i warmed up the car enough the first time, but i didnt. so after the first test, i took it on the freeway, and dogged the $#!T out of it for about 20 minutes. then i took it to another shop and parked the car.

dont shut the car off while your waiting for them to put it on the rack. you should rev it up while your waiting to keep the cats nice and hot. i passed the second time. :D

800 RPM? Were you trying to cool the car down? Drive it hard, rev high, that warms it up; not sitting at 800 RPM.

Stupid Test Only smog. Some places don't test well either, you should have gone to one that gives you a free re-test. There's one right off Miramar road that I went to that does that. The guy was really nice and he made me leave the car on while it waited. He also revved it up good before the test. I wish I had gone to them the day before since I failed at another place and they didn't offer a retest. This was in my Integra BTW, not the M3.
