my car is in the shop getting a new front end and i think i decided to have them paint my moldings all around and the rear bumper bottom lip too.. they are charging me $600 to do it right the way it's suppose to be done, so it doesnt chip and peel off etc.. anyways i think its a little too high, but its a shop that mostly workes on exotic cars.. is it high? anyone done it before and for how much? should i leave the door handles black? or paint them? what looks better? and would anyone happen to have any pics of how it looks on silver m3, i would really want to see how the back looks with the lower lip painted, thanks in advance..

the price is about right.

i would do the door handles, all mouldings, rear valance, and windshield washer nozzles

Just paint the mouldings, not the door handles, rear valance etc........you need some contrast.

Edit: I found some pics that might be able to help you; I suppose painting the door handles would look good too, but I would definately leave the rear valance unpainted. Of course though, its all up to you.

Here is member Hc1001's ride...hope he doesn't mind.

its way too much to have those taken out and painted, not worth it..

all u need to do is pop the trim off and its easyily painted then. don't need to be removed. if they told u that, they want more money

i only paid $325 to have all my molding painted the right way. i'd leave the diffuser black too.

yeah i'm taking my car out of there, they are actually charging $770 for everything now, the price decided to go up all of a sudden, i'm taking it to a different shop that will do everything for $180.. i'll probably do my door handles too..

thanks for the pictures

I don't know why but for some reason, painted moldings on silver M3's make the car look cheap. It works for some other colors but it NEVER has worked for silver IMO.

Let me know if you decide to go with the shop charging $180. I have not been able to find a good shop in SD that will go that low.

-Thank you in Advance

I agree with skatedog, the unpainted handles look way better.

some questions about these rims... first are these chrome LTWs? i didnt think there was such a thing but these look really shiny... just waxed or something??

then the tire sidewall looks really thin... other 17"s ive seen have way thicker sidewalled tires on em. is this becuase these LTW rims are narrower then other ones ive seen so the sidewall is shorter? or can you choose how big of a tire you want to put on the rim? srry im kind of a tire/wheel novie but im trying to figure out what rims to get for my 328.

does anyone have more pics of this car???

Even if some contrast is good, it's not good to have unpainted plastic, it just looks cheap. Try to get the contrast with something else. Paint everything, you won't regret it, it will look a lot cleaner and updated.

I'm looking to do this also along with wet sanding the pinstripping off.... what did you guys do with the kidney grilles? I have a silver car and i was wondering if you painted the chrome surroundings? Also do you guys like the pinstripping or not?
thanks

Painted molding looks good and updates the car in all colors.... That is one of the reasons why I originally got a black one (never realized the molding made such a big difference) - of course the money I saved in getting molding painted, I have made up for in carwash soap and wax and time...... Gee, how many times have I said I wouldn't get another black vehicle - 5 and counting..... it's an addiction!

Adil, don't do it. PS. Please let me also know where you go, I want to have my nosepanel and front bumper repainted.
