Here's my specs: I have a '89 325is with 201k miles. My mods include k&n cone filter, JimC chip, catback magnaflow exhaust, bavauto.com short shifter kit c, falken azenis sport rubbers.

Here's the story. I went to the sacramento raceway to test out my new chip.
I have a problem with my tach where it doesnt like to work in a hot cockpit. guess what, it was hot and my tach wasnt working. i wasnt too worried until it still not working when my turn to race was about 1 minute away. Im thinkin ill just go by speedo and shift right before each gears max speed. i am literally doing the burnout to get my tires warm when my tach decides to work! i launch at 3500 rpms and i get some real bad wheel hop. i dont really notice anything wrong. I end up running a 15.36 @ 89 mph. i wasnt really impressed considering i ran a 15.4 without the chip. i pull around to get my slip and my power steering, brakes and some electronics stopped working but my engine was running! :confused
Turns out a vacuum line came off. i fixed it and ran again. this time i launch the same and get major wheel hop. In the process of this wheel hop i hear a super loud pop and then it sounded like i was running straight pipes but my engine was still going and no lights came on so naturally my dumbass says fux it. i finish the run and i get all the same problems from the first run and an additional loudass exhaust. Turns out i ran a 15.31 @ 89 mph! My car had TWO vac lines off AND my flex pipe (the 1,2,3 cylinder downpipe) completely blew off the exhaust manifold. I still ran a faster time then with just one vac line off! :confused anyways, i am gonna get some shortie Headers (http://www.bluesteelperformance.com/oscommerce-2.2ms2/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/171) w/ downpipes after the collectors. I'll, just get them bare and paint them then wrap them in heatwrap. i really hope i can hit atleast 14.9 in the 1/4 mile. :alright

not bad times at all IMO, when my car was only filter, chip, 410 diff and catback i ran a 15.6 on drag radials. :(

you have an is, so i would suspect you should have an lsd, but by looking at your 60 ft times it looks like maybe the lsd is geting tired. you should be able to pull a 2.0 to a 2.1 on street tires at least. I know alot of time can be had with a better 60 ft. when i was running similar times to you i was getting 2.2 sec 60 fts with an open diff.

By tired you mean replace gears or just diff fluid? Where would i find the best deals on fluid and gears?

Beware of running your engine hard when there are vacuum leaks. They cause a lean mixture that can cause engine damage, burned valves, preignition, etc. If you are going to race your car everything needs to be tickity boo.

cheers,
