I just recently purchased a 330ci and it has the extra option of having the 18' M rims on there with wider tires in the rear. I need a winter set-up, I looked up tirerack and they recommed I go with 16' AT Italia Type 5 wheels. Tire size recommeded is 205/55/16...

Does anyone have any experience with this packge? Does it look good on the car, how much is performance effected? I was thinking of getting the Dunlop snow tires (special for $89 each) but I'm worried that performance will be completely gone...

I was thinking since my cars standard size is 18' I would go with 17' wheels and snow tires, but a friend that has a E36 M3 did not recommed this to me because he said in winter drving and large potholes we have in the city, rims will bend way too easy.

What do you guys recommed/think?

Any help would be appreciated.

bump for mihalis

what's up all, my 1st post on Bimmerforums. just looking around, i can see i'm going to like it here.

mihalis - you can go w/ a number of setups w/ the 330, each w/ it's own pro's and cons

1. 16's on Italia's - just about the only 16 that will fit around the 330's brakes

2. 17's w/ 205/55 - pizza cutters but they're great in the snow

3. stock staggered setup - 225/45 front, 245/40 back. i think i'm going with this setup. i'm sure there'll be some diminished grip because of size. also the only winter tire that comes staggered is the LM-22.

4. 225/45/17's all around
