Im thinking about getting a new set of wheels after the winter. Currently running bmw ltw 17's.
What wheel would you choose and why? Breyton Imagine or Hamann HM2? This if for a 99 m3. I hear that the breyton imagines are heavy, but are they so heavy that its a noticeable difference? Please back up your responses. I track occasionally. Is either wheel known for being soft and prone to pothole damage?

I believe the Imagine may be lighter than the HM2. And I prefer the thinner spokes of the Imagine as well. Do you want 18s or 19s?

I think Im going to go with 18's.

Do you happen to have any aftermarket rotors installed on your M?

I do, but I might replace them with new OE rotors because I have heard that some aftermarket rotors have a tendency to warp( thismay be incorrect).

Let's see. LTW's weight roughly 20#, Breyton Imagine 18x8.5's are around 31#, HM2's are around 25#. Breyton's also have a rep for being heavy and weak.

If you're running normal street tires, you probally won't notice the HM2's, but you will feel the difference with the Breytons, both in acceleration and braking. If you're serious about tracking, stay 17" if it's about the looks, then weights and size don't matter, go 19" HRE's.

yah I was originally going to sell the ltw's.... I may just hold them now for the track. Not super serious about the track but it is a nice change up of a way to spend a friday afternoon.

I went from stock doublespokes (23+/-lbs) to 18' Breyton Softlines (29-30+/-lbs). I noticed a difference in acceleration and handling. The softlines are coming off today and are being replaced by some Ltw's I picked up.

Breytons are heavy, but bulletproof. Mine have no damage after 2 years of hard driving, potholes, etc.

Some people say that wheel weight makes no difference on the street, but it did for me, because I mostly drive my car on the street.

Save yourself the dissapointment and $$$ and get something lighter.

:cool I would definetly go with the Hamann wheels. For some reason, Breyton wheels just don't appeal to me all that much. :D :cool
