I know how to put a beuatiful shine on my wheels. But how do I keep them clean? Seems like as soon as I clean them they are covered in break dust again. Is there something I can put on them that will keep the dust from sticking to the wheel in the first place?

Wheel wax or a good synthetic sealant (zaino, Klasse, etc). Carnuba waxes will NOT work because of the heat generated by the front brakes (rears are fine). This will not prevent the dust from settling, but will make lots easier to wash it off.
If you don't want the look of dusty brakes, swap to a lower visible dusting pad. The trade off would be most low dust pads will wear the rotors faster. I've heard Axxis Ultimates are a good compromise, but I haven't personally tried them.

Actually ceramic pads are easier on rotors and create less brake dust.

Ho do you keep them clean?
1) Take the wheels off the car
2) Clean them
3) Store them

Get gunmetal rims - hides the brakedust.

I have used the ceramic pads and they work great. I went the whole winter season without having to clean the wheels. The ceramic pads are also easy on rotors. Compared to the OE pads I thought the braking was very similar.
If I can help or if you have any questions let me know.

Hmm, sounds like ceramic pads will work for me too. Everytime i try to clean the wheels, not even 2 weeks later, the wheels are black again. Hmm... if the braking is similar, they're easier on rotors... do they last as long as oem? Also, do the ceramic pads create any sort of noise?
thanks

Let's revitalize this thread.
Do ceramic pads last as long? Do they cost alot more?

Anyone? Ceramic pads? Good? Bad? Don't last long? Make noise? Look dumb?

for e36 ceramic pads, i would suggest looking at carbotech:

The Bobcats would be the choice for street driving.

Um, Axxis Ultimates which I 'm sure you have all heard about, read about... again and again ARE ceramic composit pads. And, yes they DO brake better than stock, AND dust much less than my stock ones did.
A true testimonial here...

Wow. $100 for a set of break pads. That's really something. Do they last much longer?
What do a standard set of pads run (and I'm talking from a parts store, not from the inflation happy stealership)

I don't think that brake pad longevity is one of the selling points of pads for our cars. The brakes are one of the better attributes of our cars. And I for one am not gonna scrimp.
But, you do have a point. A hundred bux just for pads. You can get decent ones for a little more than half that. But they will not last as long, will dust worse, may not stop as well and definitely wouldn't handle much performance driving. Especially if you live in the hills.
Check on-line at some of our supporting vendors. There's always a deal here somewhere. Good luck.

Skipjacks- I didnt read much of the rest of the thread, but I just bought a bottle of Rejex and put it on the wheels and I'm pretty impressed. That was probably a month ago. It keeps the wheels clean and shiny and just doesnt let the dust attach to the wheel. And when it finally does, most of it just hoses off with water (or a rain shower). Its not a miracle product, but it kept them clean and dust-free for a lot longer than any wax I've ever tried.
www.rejexusa.com is where I bought mine. Coupon code DTMPOWER gives you %10 off I think.
