I currently have a 95 M3 for track/auto-x duty and an Audi A4 for DD duty. I am tired of the Audi, just not fun. I am thinking about getting a used Mini CS for my daily driver. Any downside to this? Is reliability a problem? they get decent MPG right?
thanks for the info,
matt

Luggage space might be something to consider.

well the downside is that I drive 30k a year and am not sure if the Mini can take the mileage? I plan on buying a used one with maybe 20k on the clock and keep it for maybo 3 years and run it to 100k. Are these things reilable?

I have an 04 MC with just over 13k on it, and have used it as a daily driver on a 90-mile round-trip commute. I never had any problem that would have led me to think it couldn't "take the mileage." These are very well-thought-out cars, and well put together. BMW did not p!$$ away quality when they made them.
I can guaranteee you that in traffic, you won't feel the slightest bit disadvantaged against anything else on the road. People used to ask me if I was nervous around big trucks. Quite the opposite. With the MINI's safety features and very rigid structure, if I had to be in a crash, I'd rather be in my car than just any other.
I've had mine now for 20k miles, an 03, and haven't had any real problems with the car. The PCV valve needs to be replaced and that's about it. The car is awesome in traffic and gets 30+ mpg on the highway.
