Okay I am about 2 months from purchasing rims and I am just trying to get my brain around the options out there - not style but substance... how they are made, and how each would affect the car.

What is the range of weights for rims. I've seen the SSK Comps at around 14, I guess I'm trying to put that into some sort of perspective. Does any one know what (I have an E30) bottlecaps weigh? What is considered a "heavy" rim. In real world driving, will 3lbs be noticable? Will 8?

I'm not sure about the bottle caps, I'd stay away from SSR comps, turner motorsports use to use them but they bend too easily, Kosei, i believe are about the same, but i'm not sure. For me, the lightest I would go are the BBS RK, some may not like the design, but they are still very light and very strong(it's BBS of course)

There are a lot of other racers using the SSR Comp with no problem. If you go off track in a racing situation you bend wheels. You can't beat the weight and the cost of the SSR forged wheels.
How big are you looking to go? I can take a look for you.

Thanks Jim, I think 16s look perfect on E30s with a little drop (H&R and Bilsteins), so anything that size would make me happy.

I guess I am just wondering how much I should care about weight and build-type. For a regular driver, probably never racer, but offramp attacker, does it matter... would I notice a difference? But I'll take sugestions too most definitly.

(as a side note, has anyone else experienced internet-paralysis? I CAN NOT make an impulse purchase of products. I just can't do it. Since I know on the web there have to be dozens of reviews of everything, I find I have to research everything before I buy. I am an expert in things before I buy... I can't not do it)
