I have the springs. I have the S50tu springs, and Euro Springs. I took a picture of all three for comparison.

The cups fit the head fine so I am proceeding with the next step!

The next step involes the retainer and keepers.

I have a few options I am going to look into.

1. have new keepers made to fit the euro/S50tu retainer

2. New reatainers made to fit the stock keepers

3. Have both keepers and retainer made.

I think the first option will be the cheaper. I have to test the springs and find out which ones are stronger. The S50tu springs actually look heavier than the S50 euro springs.

I will post a picture so everyone can look at all three side by side.

Nice comparison pic Gary!

So, none of the factory retainers will work with the upgraded springs in your S50 head? It would be nice if you didn't have to go the custom route...

Yea I wish they would work. But they are for 7mm valve stems, so they are too big. I figure ti will be cheaper to make the keepers than the entire retainer and keeper. I am going to test spring pressures sometime int he next week or two I will post the results.

What about going with the Euro or tu valve guides? Is the actual bore in the head the same, just the guide a different thickness?

Is there any rate information for the various valve spring options? Thanks for the great info and pictures BTW. :D

I am working on all the rates. And you can't use the retainers/keepers becasue the early S50tu and Euro motors have 7mm valve stems all the other motors have the 6mm stems. It would cost too much to do the 7mm valve conversion. I am talking with an engine builder I know (he builds nascar motors) about getting new keepers made.
