ive seen the ad in a magazine.. it aparently plays the roll of the horizontal bar on a full cage that your harnesses attach to. they say it increases rigidity and is really light and strong. its just a horizontal bar behind the front seats connected at the upper seatbelt bolt area with 2 stabilizer bars. is this a good buy if you want to run harnesses?

I have one from Speedware (local shop) that I believe is made by Sparco. Very slick, easy to install/remove, don't plan on anyone getting in or out of your back seats without contortions. Great harness bar; not likely to add that much rigidity (the roof does a much better job). Email for pics if you want. Regards, Dan

If you don't have clip in's, then the correct way is to drill. You can use the stock location on the outside. On the inside you need to drill a hole in the trans tunnel then use a bolt and a backing plate so it can't pull through in case of an accident.

i have sparco 4pt clip ins.. i cliped it onto the mounting braket on the inside but its too close so i cant get the lap belt tight enough. ill figure something out.

do not tie your harness on to your seat mounting brackets, its not safe. Your harnesses should say this.

If I didn't have a rollbar in my M3, I'd *definitely* do this pillar bar method. Good stuff.

Brey Krause makes a similar bar, however it also mounts to the rear seat area in addition to the seat belt bolts:
I'm selling mine here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=423728

just some info for you sedan owners looking at this thread. These bars won't fit in your car, the B pillar is too far forward. Sparco makes a sedan-specific bar, Speedware and Brey Krause do not. THere is an ebay dealer who has the sedan sparco bar, $400, same price for the coupe bar.
IMO, the Brey Krause bar looks the best for the coupe, looks pretty solid.
