I installed this last weekend:

and I wish I had done it years ago. I'm so glad the school bus wheel is gone. The car is lot more fun to drive, and now the wheel isn't hitting my legs. Install was a breeze, took all of 15 min.
nice. makes me miss my momo race wheel on my old e30. your car should feel real nice driving fast, auto-xing, or on the track. does the wheel block the speedo or tach in any way? btw, how does insurance look at changing out steering wheels? i want to do the mod, but i don't want to get screwed by them if anything happens.

It just slightly blocks the top portion of the speedo and tach but nothing that I can't live with. As for the insurance issue I really don't and I hope I never have to find out:)

Hey! I got one VERY similar to that! I decided against the suede-like look at the top, though. Mine's a Momo Champion...and I love it!
However, I do have the same problem as you. I have to crouch in the seat to see the top half of the tach. Especially during hard acceleration when I'm revving to 7200 rpm. There's always some trade-off, but I got around this by installing a shift light (rather than adjusting the height of the steering wheel since I like it at a specific height).

That carbon fiber is a sticker that sticks on the existing stuff, right? From MkAutosport.com(or something similiar?)
I just wanted to ask someone who had it. I originally thought they were complete cf parts...but upon futher inspections...I thought it could just be a real cf sticker that I would stick on the car.

Looks great! Where would be a good place to buy a nice steering wheel like that? Also, did it come with instructions on how to do it? Thanks.

i installed the small momo steering wheel (300mm??) anyway, the tach was cut off pretty bad so i went with the 350mm version and i like it alot better. mine is a momo top power. a vastly improved tactile experience versus the stock wheel.

mmmgood, yes it sticks on the existing pieces and is from toora sport. its not bad but I would prefer the ltw stuff or the stuff from Milos (mkautosport).
Quest, I got mine through www.subesports.com and got the hub through tc kline, and yes it comes with instructions.

Do you guys get any airbag error messages? And if so what did you do to get rid of it?

My airbag light is on and I plan on pulling the bulb for it when I ake out the cluster but for now a piece of black electrical tape cut to fit covers it up nicely.

Very nice. I have a MOMO Race wheel in mine. It was the first mod I did. I couldn't stand the bulkiness size of the factory wheel. I am going to get a 1-1.5" spacer to bring the wheel closer to me. Keeps a proper driving position for my arms, but then I could move back away from the dash. BTW I pulled the bulb, but it still lights up a little bit. And then I put a resistor in the clock spring connector like someone here previously stated to do, but to no avail. It didn't work for me, unless its the wrong resistance.

Do any of you guys that have done the wheel change have a slip ring for sale? My slip ring is hammered.....
Thanks, Johnny

I thought of getting a new steering whell but don't like the annoyance of flashing lights and buzzers and such. :)

Someone mentioned a spacer? I got this one through Smart Racing Products, about $40. It's 1.25" thick:

Beautiful spacer. It's exactly what is needed for tall drivers.

Yes, I am 6'-3 and ~260lbs. The stock wheel is just way too big. The smaller MOMO improved that greatly, but moved the steering wheel away slightly. This is friggin perfect. I can't recommend it enough.

Hey guys. I read the thread and ordered a 350mm Momo Jet with a spacer from Smart Racing Products.
Any tricks to the intall? Disconnect battery? Airbag sensors or anything? Where are the bolts?
Thanks,
TechnoV
