Help please! I have a 1999 328i vert., fully automatic. I am trying to open it manually. I disengaged the motors and used an Allen key to release the front of the top above the windshield. I was attempting to manually fold it down in order to do the reset. Once disengaging the front, it won't go up much and the rear of the top will not come up so I may lift the tonneau cover and store the top down. Any ideas??? I really appreciate your help!

I'm trying to help a friend get the soft top on his '94 E36 to correctly operate. Following this forum, we have the top now locked in the up position, but can't get it to drop for that sunny Phoenix desert weather! I'm not too familiar with E36, but did the motor reset ok, the under-hood fuse is good, but didn't check the fuse in the trunk before he left with the car. It's a 5-speed and that console window switch near the shifter only works in one direction - forgot if it raises or lowers all windows. Does that affect the operation of the top?Haven't checked the soft top module or its switch yet. I'm an E46 M3 guy and should be able to do some lower level diagnostics on this car, with a little direction from you guys. When did BMW abandon that awful 20 connector? Thanks!
