1996 coupe getrag shift linkage question

Hey fellas I was hoping someone can please help me with this issue I'm having. Basically what I'm doing is manual swapping my 1996 e36 coupe and my donor car is a 1998 e36 318i sedan with the m44 motor and getrag transmission. Basically I'm having issues with the shifter assembly being a bit too long.. is there something I'm missing here? Is the shift linkage a different length between 4cylinder getrag cars and 6 cylinder getrag equipped cars? Please help me out fellas I'm almost done with my swap but stumped on this issue. I don't know the answer to your question. I would start by looking at the 2 cars on RealOEM to compare part numbers.

Hey fellas I have read somewhere that the getrag shifter carrier from a 318i has a different length from a getrag shifter carrier out of a 325i .. is there any truth to this?
