I have a 1994 540i with a build date of 5/94.
On the cover of the '94 wiring manual, it says it includes all 540i produced between 2/93 to 6/94. Additionally, on the cover of the '95 wiring manual, it says it includes all vehicles produced between 5/94 to 12/95.
Simple question: What is the correct manual to reference for my 5/94 build date 540i?
It didn't really bother me too much until I came across the grounding pin location difference in the supplemental restraint system module connector. The '94 manual says to ground it to the hardware that fastens the module to the metal of the vehicle (basically the module itself) and the '95 manual says to ground it to a ground post in close proximity but not directly to the module itself. In the grand scheme of things, is this that big of deal?... no, it's all grounded either way which ever way I decide to attach the ground but the chance of that airbag mistakenly going off or not going off when it needs to, has changed.
