Two blower motor assemblies..??

Need a new blower motor for my 93 e34 525 non automatic hvac, seeing just the motor and also a blower motor with a cage around it.. What's up with the cage thing

what is the VIN? What brand is the unit? Anything retrofitted? I remember this case in the E32 forum, Spal AC dealer installed unit https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2491125-Blower-motor-questions
