All- in the process of a manual swap and refreshing a pedal set. However, there were 2 versions of the MC and pedal set during the life cycle of the e36. I believe the shorter version came in some time in mid-97. In any event, is there a benefit to one or the other? In addition, the pedal setup is also slightly different between the two setups I believe.

There are technically more than that, but M3 wise, yes there are two.

There's no advantage to either, but you must use the matching hardline to use it. The long necks use a shorter hard line and the vice versa.
