View Full Version : Has anyone else dealt with a stripped screw / bolt hole in tailgate window?

Does anyone know if the bolt / screw that connects the tailgate to the window is part of the circuit that triggers the rear hatch warning?
I had to tighten mine down using loctite blue because the screw hole in the tailgate window seems to've been stripped, but I think that now triggers the warning because loctite does not conduct electricity.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? Did you retap the hole? Use some kind of a conductive epoxy? Another solution?

Thanks!

No, that isn't part of a circuit. The mushroom-head part of that bolt does press on a microswitch in the tailgate - that microswitch is what tells the car if the tailgate window is open.

That said, that bolt does have to be adjusted properly. There is a specified protrusion in the factory manual. But I think that's basically just to make sure it latches properly. If it's properly latched and you're getting the error, then either the microswitch or the hatch wiring would be the problem.
