M40 engine codes

Hi guys, after some research, I discovered that my current 518i has a different engine code than my previous 518i. Both are driven by the M40 engine, and there are only a few months difference between them. The engines are the 184E1 02A and 184E1 03A. Apart from a few differences in the throttle body and intake related parts, I can't recall any other distinctions.I am curious if there are any other differences between them in terms of materials, power, etc., and why this is happening. Any thoughts on that? Cheers.

Einleitung zur Kennzeichnung alt / neu : Bei älteren Triebwerken des Typs M10, M20, M21, M40, M70, S14 und S38 war diese Triebwerks-Kennzeichnung nicht mit der Serienkennzeichnung konform. Aus organisatorischen Gründen wurde das gesamte Triebwerksprogramm überarbeitet und ein Teil dieser Triebwerke erhielten neue Kennzeichnungen. Um Ihnen eine Gegenüberstellung der geänderten Kennzeichnung zu ermöglichen, finden Sie auf den folgenden Seiten eine motortypbezogene Übersicht.Die Kennzeichnung ist wie bisher je nach Motortyp auf dem werkseitig vorgesehenen Feld für Motordaten zu finden. (siehe Abbildung - Pfeil zeigt auf Motordatenfeld) Auch die Teilenummer des Triebwerks wird auf dem Motordatenfeld eingeprägt.

Introduction to marking old / new : On older engines of the type M10, M20, M21, M40, M70, S14 and S38 engines, this engine identification did not conform to the series identification. For organizational reasons, the entire engine program was revised and some of these engines were given new markings. To provide you with the new markings, you will find a comparison of the the following pages you will find an overview engine type-related overview. As before, the labeling for each engine type can be found in the field for engine data provided at the factory. (see illustration - arrow points to engine data field) The part number of the engine is also stamped on the engine data field.
