theres 2 TDC for the bottom end. that said, just get the special tools kit and use those. The $50 is worth spending

I’m doing my headgasket because it was leaking coolant into cylinder 2. I did an exhaust leak tester and it came out positive as well as I was blowing white smoke out. When I got to my head you can clearly see that there was coolant leaking into cylinder 2 but there was no cracks in the head gasket. THERES ALSO MILKY LIQUED FROM COOLANT AND OIL IN VALVE COVER BUT NOT IN OIL PAN <—(main concern). Aswell as when I took off intake manifold I could see coolant pooled up in the cams to cylinder 2. I have a non vanos head that has a crack in it and was wondering if I pull off a head from and e36 with vanos would it fit? And what would I have to do to wire it up?

No.

You need a non vanos-head. It can be from an early E36 325i/s or E34 525i
