I need to replace the oil cooler lines from the transmission. Suprise...there is a slow leak/seep at the rubber section near the cooler after 20 years. When I pull the lines off is the transmission fluid going to pour out of the trans? Is the pump that moves the fluid in the trans going to reduce flow while the engine is off? Not familiar with the operation here.

Had a similar issue on a buddy's car that resolved with an hydraulic lines crimper/dies set (vevor) about 100 bucks on eBay. Slid it in place, recrimped the seeping ferrule and cured it.
I purchased said set because all of the PS pressure lines were about 600 bucks, figured out I'd just refirbush them myself when I did timing guides.

This is my conundrum (love that word) I purchased the lines for ~$500 but the leak is coming from the rubber section that I have seen some repair videos for and using the Oeticker clamps and new transmission oil line.
I am dealing with the quick disconnect lines to this unit. BMW Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler - Genuine BMW 17217505823 | FCP Euro (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-transmission-oil-cooler-heat-exchanger-17217505823)

When the car is off, you will only see a little loss. The pump drives the fluid, and when off, there is not much that comes out. Check hard lines for any possible damage too. On the Yukon, I had a hard line leaking due to rubbing on a mounting point and road salt - this stuff is all down low.

Excellent, this is what I was hoping for.

There is enough in the lines to make a mess, no way around it. It won't empty the trans if that's your concern. Good opportunity for a thorough fluid service, blow the cooler out while the lines are off. Fitting access on the GM 4l30e is no fun.
