How do I properly replace HVAC buttons?

I've had a few of my HVAC buttons start falling out. Ordered one, but it doesn't just push back in.

What is the proper method for repairing/replacing these? Any kind of upgrade that can be done?

Each button has tabs at the top, so first you slot those tabs in and then simply push the button from the bottom side. You may need to use a small flathead to bend the button a bit and help it fit in.

Thanks! That was very helpful. It looks like my buttons are worn along the bottom, and that might be why they're not holding in place.
