I need to change out my Goodyear F1's for 'winter' or possibly 'all season' tires. I'll be putting the tires on my OEM rims on my 545i 6sp with sport package. It doesn't snow a lot here in Cincinnati, and I want tires that handle really well in the dry.

What is the best 'high performance' tire for occasional snow?

18" snow tires are kinda expensive... might make more sense to buy a second set of wheels just for snow tires (if they fit).

Vredesteins are very good http://www.vredestein.com/autobanden/Main.asp?menuID=3&UserSessionID=61814082&BandCategorieID=1&BandToepassingID=2&BandTypeID=465

... They dont feel as mushy off the snow. Since you won't be driving on snow ALL the time, these handle well off the snow and are a lot quieter. man... cant believe were talking snow tires already! Its like 85 degrees out right now :)

All seasons are just a compromise... just think of dedicated snow tires as "R-comps" for the snow :) But if youre going for high performance all-season, the Toyo Proxes4 is a good one to look at also.
