Gear Shift Assembly 2015 X3

Anyone have any experience replacing one on a 2015 X3 xdrivei28. How hard is it? does it need to be reprogrammed by a certified BMW dealer? Cost? Thanks for your help

The center console trim comes up from the middle pivoting at the front edges. Then you unscrew and unplug some things to get to the shifter.

If you've done some detailed interior trim work, it's not hard. A good used shifter can be used. There are 2 versions, sport with a leather surround, and the normal one with plastic.

It does need to be coded/reprogrammed. It doesn't have to be the dealer though. A windows laptop + BMW ENET cable can be used, even for remote programming (I can help do that if needed).
