328d xDrive - oil pan gasket DIY

Hi Folks,
Don't have this car yet but just preparing for potential purchase. Does anyone here know specifically for the N47 diesel motor in the F30 chassis, do you have to drop the subfame in order to change out the oil pan gasket?

For the xdrive, the front driveshaft goes through it, so a lot has to be dropped.

It's a bit unusual to have to do an oil pan gasket though. What's going on with that car?
