R53 auto won't shift pass first gear

I have a r53 sport version with an automatic transmission and it won't shift pass the first gear. I have changed the gear oil and still the same thing

have you used a Code Reader on the car to see if it is giving any errors, especially for the EGS (Electronic Gear Shift, I BELIEVE it stands for) module?
do not just blindly feed it parts. Pay to get the vehicle connected to a code scanner, if you do not own a MINI/BMW specific one.
