Hello guys, first time poster here! I have a 99 316i Sedan that I'd eventually like to build into a somewhat STW inspired daily/track car. The first big task will be the removal of the rear subframe. Originally I wanted to buy some reinforcement plates, but those things cost wayy too much for 2 plates of 1/8" thick steel, so I want to make them myself. Does anyone know where can I find templates, or measurements of these plates? Any help is appreciated!

Yeah you can measure your own car and figure it out lol. The reinforcement plates I got from akg were only like $25-30 for the pair....

Material alone would probably justify getting the plates. And that’s assuming you got all the dimensions right first try.

For the rta pockets AKG is a really good price.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3877548 this stands a good chance of being accurate enough, it is a very complex shape.
dont use 1/8th use 1/4 or at worst 3/16. unless you have material already on your plasma table just order a set. youll just need to locate a eu supplier. i think mine where like $30 at the time.
the ones on my car are 1/4in this will help alot when welding as you can put the heat into the plate not the sheet metal. even the link i posted is quoted at 5mm. the access here especially without dropping the fuel tank and trailing arm is a total pain in the ass.
