I am not a mechanic first of all, so i am sorry if this is a stupid question... :redspot
But i bought a new steering wheel for my E39 from Ebay. And got help from a motorshop to install it to my car. But they told me that they would not be able to get the airbag connected since it did not have the same amount of connectors.

What i had before was this. https://i.ibb.co/Jn5LkM8/old-steeringwheel.jpg
So now my SRS light is showing up on dashboard. And i was off to doing an inspection on my car pretty soon. Though the shop did not have any times available i thought i could fool the car with an resistance and clear my emission/inspection. And then try selling the new steering wheel to buy another "correct" one instead and get installed.

I have watched a few videos on Youtube by now. And i wonder is it a 2.2Ohm resistance i need for this particular car "BMW E39 540i 1997". And how many do i need for this car model. And could i just buy and use a tool like this to reset the SRS light after i got help install the resistance. https://www.google.com/search?q=unicarscan&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiBmY_Zkqr3AhWTyIsKHRRUBCgQ_AUoAXoECAEQA w&biw=1920&bih=927

This is what i bought, by the way:

If you expect any help, you need to let us know what year your car is, is it an early E39? ‘96 to ‘98? Or later model, ‘99, to 2000, and facelift E39’s, ‘01 to ‘03, ‘04 for the last of the wagons. The early ‘96 to ‘98’s came with single stage airbags, and the wheels hubs are different, I don’t believe , can even be mounted on to a car that came with dual stage airbags. The clocksprings are totally different. So it’s kinda confusing that you bought one of those overpriced rewrapped wheels, a shop helped you get it mounted, but the harnesses are all different….. This just does not make sense. I may be wrong, I have never tried to mount a stage one wheel, on to a dual stage car, but those are the differences, and I always (in my head) thought you couldn’t mount one on the other. The hubs on the stage one steering wheels are totally different.

recommend learning how to do simple mods like this on your own to save $$ on labor.

put the stock wheel back on to see if SRS light goes out
