Greetings All.

Out of my comfort zone today. I am working on an E93. It has a 167k on the clock. The car is flattening its battery. When I first got the car, the first thing i did was run a scan. Many fault codes were found including a few in the cluster like ID415 Electrostatic discharge Start Engine. The Orange car on ramp symbol appears now and again as does the orange exclamation mark. There are 5 DTC in the DDE, 1 in ABS DSC, 1 in CTM, 1 in DWA, 3 in the FRM2, 3 in the IHKA2. Codes include 452A, 4873,4737,4733,4121, 5DF4, A696, 9D14, 9CB3,9CB5, 9CB4, 9C4B, 9C50and 9C6C. Cluster codes include ID229, and three entries for ID415.

The battery inductance test reported 34% SOH and the record in the cluster suggested similar. After charging for 8 hours with the battery neg removed, the SOH had risen to a mere 46% SOH with Caution as the flag. With all DTC's cleared only two come back immediately, namely DTF and N/S/R suspension ride height sensor. I sent the Power Down command and let the car sit a further 10 minutes with an amp clamp on the neg with the boot latches closed and locked. Current drain was reported as 76mA. No issues there. Seems a bit low to me in fact. Anyway not drawing any firm conclusions yet I left the battery charging overnight again only in circuit this time. I ran the power down command again and left the car for another 10 minutes. So far today I cannot get the car to draw less than 1.90A continuously. Opening the drivers door, starting and then shutting down, open door, close door, deadlock etc walk away, again 1.90A. Before the car is dismantled does anyone have any good starting places. I understand the was a TSB for the CCA module that should go to sleep after 6 minutes but sometimes doesn't.

Thoughts please gents. Thanks

My 2 cents! I own an 06 325I, 130K miles that I do the work on. I have learned that one problem or bad part can give you multiple codes on BMW's. When my crank shaft sensor was going bad, i had about 6 or 8 codes on my scanner. Once a new sensor was installed everything cleared. I have just installed a new battery on my car, the old one charged up, but wouldn't crank the car. I also replaced the starter relay fuse, because as i was running scans, the old one heated up and the car would not crank until it cooled off. I registered my battery, but noticed my start button and gear selector lights did not turn off at all and were draining the battery. It turned out to be my negative cable IBS. Once I replaced it, it charged fine, lights went to sleep and my car runs great. I also pulled all my fuses and cleaned up the contacts, both in the glove box and engine compartment, then did a load test to verify they were working properly. So hopefully you'll find your problem, best of luck.

For those interested here is what I gleaned from the other forum and what ended up happening.
