I was working on the audio system on the car. It was running fine before I called it a night and went to work on it the next day, when I went to start it it wouldn't crank. got a new battery in it, put a good working starter in, the crankshaft position sensor bench tested good, i tried another red label 413 DME and nothing will get the car to crank. Do you guys have any idea what it could be? Its not getting fuel right now and the check engine light won't light up when i turn the key on. The bulb is fine, i checked that too. I heard if the camshaft sensor is bad, it won't send a signal to power the dme/fuel? thanks

won't crank, or won't start? Big difference.

Ok, so cam and crank sensor have nothing to do with this. That only comes into play when it's cranking.

- Jump the +12v on the starter solenoid and make sure it's working
- Could also be your ignition switch itself ... not sending the signal to the starter
- 95 had EWS1, and I don't think there is a start relay in 95, but basically, need to check if the wiring to the starter is ok. Possible you messed something up under the dash when you were installing audio? What did you have apart?
- The starter is basically a direct wire +12v, gnd (via housing), and +12v solenoid signal wire from the ignition switch. the DME has nothing to do with the starting circuit ... it will crank even when there is no DME connected (I think? Been a while since I worked with stock wiring harness)

Not all ‘95 M3s have EWS. Only those built from Jan 1995 on. My 10/94 build doesn’t have EWS.
