Hello all,

Need some help quick. Yesterday a check engine light popped up, while cruising on the highway. After several restarts (hoping it would clear on its own), I took the car up to the local Autozone and they pulled a P02D1 code. Quick search on the internet says this code translates to "Cylinder 3 fuel injector adapting to its maximum limit"

Normally, not an issue to bring my car to the dealership or elsewhere to get it fixed, but I'm leaving tomorrow for a 500 mile round-trip drive to NYC and back.

So my question is, is this a MAJOR or MINOR issue?? Am I taking too big a risk driving with this Code ??

Any advice is gratefully accepted.

Cheers,
Erick

Firstly, you'd want use a BMW scanner that reads BMW codes.

This code can mean a dirty or clogged injector on the diesel.

I suggest getting a good diesel injector cleaner like Hot Shot Secret additives and run that for a while.

It's not dangerous to your car, it's just telling you that an injector's flow is off, and the car has compensated beyond the maximum allowed level in order to keep it smooth.

If injector cleaners do not work, you will have to swap out the injector. It's not terribly hard.
