curious to what folks settings are for their sound systems. I am running stock hifi with bavsound speakers and currently have both of these maxed out. Not an audiophile but they seem to deliver enough punch for me.

What’s a stock stereo? Mine left after 2 weeks in 1995… lol
ok, that said,
if you had them up all the way and played it loud, you very likely damaged whatever speakers you have.
if it were me, I’d find a good stereo shop (if a thing even exists anymore) and use the RTA equipment so see what it is actually doing.

Exactly answer i was looking for thanks! Afraid my max setting would eventually blow out my speakers.

Bavsound recommends setting the bass and treble controls for flat (0), and keeping them close to that.
I just installed a new Kenwood media player, and working on the Bavsound speakers. I got new front door panels and need to cut the speaker holes so I can mount the speakers. So I have not played around with sound controls yet.

there's iphone RTA software that's more than good enough for a quick diagnostic.
Yes these days there are much cheaper options. You can get an inexpensive calibrated mic and a RTA app that will give you good results

You don't even need that. The iPhone internal mic is good enough for this purpose. You don't need the external mic unless you're actually doing real work with a real EQ.

I run the stock system with hi fi on and all other settings centered. It's no audiophile setup. It's a significant improvement over the 2013 Mini GP I had were the rear strut bar location required the factory to remove the rear subwoofers.
