I`m new to this group and 2nd time owner of a BMW few years back I owned an E46 and for a month an E90
2008, 318i SE E90, Automatic, 2.0L Petrol
I bought the car with this whining noise coming from the back and it turned out to be a bad differential.
The differential on the car has a gear ratio of 3.91 and I`m looking to install a 3.64 ratio one, for starters because I have it already and my financial situation at the moment is not so good so I can afford to buy a refurbished one or a junkyard one.
The dilemma I have is if I install the 3.64 one beside the change in acceleration will I have to do any software changes to the gearbox or will it affect in any way the engine or the gearbox or is it a straight ahead swap and that`s it?
Thanks in advance and any suggestions are more than welcome!
