I’m new to all of these forums but I need help. So I got codes for vanos (don’t remember what they were right now) but I figured it’s time for new vanos silinoids. I got my new ones and put them in and I started to get codes for the intake so I was going to take it out. When I did it wouldn’t give like normal and I was lightly going around it with a screwdriver. After about 30 minutes I finally got it and when I did only the top half of the silinoid came out. The other part stayed and I can’t get it out. Any ideas?

Holy sh!t. I would try super-long skinny pliers. Unlikely that'll do it, given that thing is apparently super-stuck. After that, it's cam surgery. Sorry dude.
What's your OCI and oil type? Is that an OEM solenoid?

ive tried just about everything. ive gotten it to come forward slightly but still wont give. I was told by a friend i may be able to get it out if i go through the valve cover.
And every 5k, 5-w30. and no i got it off of Ecs tuneing. the other one that i put in from them at the exact same time is perfectly fine.

Update: I got it out. I took out my fan to give more room and put a vise grip on it as tight as I could then put another on the handle and used a hammer and eventually it was knocked free. Everything looked okay so I put in a old ones I had that I know work. I now have a 2A87 and a 2A82 code and I swapped the Silinoids and the code remains. So if anyone knows any fixes please let me know.

Was an oil change recently performed? Check the oil filter cap it may be missing the center support.

They're solenoids.

i just did the solenoid somba a little while back,my codes were from the cam tray seals eating grooves in the cam trays.after an oil change it seemed to clear itself up but im thinking after the oil gets thinner it bypasses the seals and you get the codes again with reduced power.

I checked the oil filter cap it’s there. But the codes don’t seem consistent sometimes it will throw before I’m out of my driveway other times it can take 5 minutes but if I disconnect the harness to the intake vanos and wipe it and put it back the car won’t throw codes until the next morning.

Also, oil and everything is fresh. Just got the car back last Tuesday. Got a new set of stock turbos. Also I should add I’m not stock. I have jb4, catless downpipes, 2” inlets, dci, aluminum charge pipe and hks bov. And other little things like upgraded pcv valve w/ billet cap etc
